Health Science Librarians of Illinois (HSLI) serves as the primary statewide organization meeting the needs and interests of all information professionals who focus on the area of health and medical science.

These dedicated professionals serve communities by working in various professional environments, including hospitals, state agencies, and universities. This diverse group of individuals thrives on the constant networking and sharing of information, which allows for the continuing success of the group through the support of the development of the health science library services in Illinois. The organization keeps all members informed of the latest trends and communicates to all members through the web site and quarterly newsletter. HSLI sponsors liaisons to the National Networks of Libraries of Medicine, the Illinois State Library, and the MLA Midwest Chapter.

Purpose and Mission of the HSLI Web Site

To maintain an official HSLI web presence to access information and disseminate to HSLI members.

Guidelines of Authentic Reliability

The committees are responsible for the content of their respective web pages. Each committee is responsible for the content and upkeep of the webpages(s) in compliance with policies and standards. Committees share this information with the HSLI webmaster when necessary.

Design Standards

HSLI elements of design for all webpages should be consistent. Templates allow for the ease and conformity for all pages. All pages show the HSLI logo at the top and copyright, privacy policy statement at the bottom. The identification of the committee, the purpose of the page, and a statement about the committee will appear on the webpage. Contact information such as email, addresses, phone numbers, and fax numbers will show visitors how to reach committee members. Updates will occur as often as necessary showing the date of the modification. All pages are to link to the homepage. The links should be verified on a regular basis. Single webpages should be no larger than 30 k in size and images no larger than 50 k.

Accessibility Policy

HSLI supports access to information that will allow users with disabilities web access to information as well as users with older browsers, handheld devices, and other technologies
