The Medical Library Association (MLA) is pleased to invite you to a complimentary webinar sponsored by Wolters Kluwer. Membership in MLA is not required to attend. The webinar, titled “Raising and Communicating Your Strategic Value to Clinicians: A Panel Discussion with and for Hospital Librarians”, will take place on Monday, November 7, starting at 12:00 PM CDT. Please see below for more information, including the link to registration.

The role of medical and hospital librarians is rapidly changing and evolving. At the same time, they are experiencing a revolution in how medical information is exchanged and distributed. Changes in scholarly communication, the digital transformation of medical journals, the movement to open science, and the rapid pace of experimentation and research have made it extremely difficult for physicians and clinicians to keep current with medical literature, especially at the point of care.

At the same time, the crisis of the COVID-19 pandemic and inordinate stress on the healthcare community has resulted in staffing cutbacks and constrained budgets for institutions and their medical library programs.

To preserve their essential role in managing the wealth and scope of medical information for hospitals and clinicians, medical librarians need to find ways to communicate and promote the strategic role they play as sponsors of evidence-based information and the support tools needed at the point of care.

Webinar Benefits

A moderated panel of expert, practicing medical librarians will explore the challenges faced in communicating their intrinsic value to the institutions and organizations they serve.

Topics Include:

  • Creating awareness of the key role medical librarians play in managing medical information, supporting research projects, and promoting the development of best practices and clinical studies
  • Demonstrating the economic value of medical librarians to the facilities and communities they serve
  • Disseminating reports on productivity gains, increased patient safety, and reduced variability in the quality of care
  • Showing how cost savings can derive from improved care quality, greater patient safety, improved compliance, and path to accreditation

For more information, including presenter biographies, and to register, please go here. All registrants will receive a recording of the webinar afterwards.
