The ACRL Digital Badge Interest Group will be hosting a free webinar with speakers Rochelle Rivas and Liahla Ferra (both of Maricopa Community College), called “Bridging the Gaps: Transforming Arizona’s Healthcare Workforce Through Collaborative Microcredential Education”. Presentation Description
Maricopa Community College District (MCCCD) offers specialized microcredentials in Behavioral Health and Healthcare to enhance student skills and employability. The variety of microcredentials offered covers many different focus areas allowing learners to pick and choose which are best for their career goals. The microcredentials can be standalone certifications or embedded in existing courses. The presenters will discuss the microcredentials, and there will be time for questions at the end of the presentation.
Rochelle Rivas is the MPH District Director for Healthcare Education at MCCCD District Office. Rochelle has a Master of Public Health from Grand Canyon University. Her education and background is in public health. She has been with Maricopa Community College for twenty years. Her expertise and experience with MCCCD and healthcare programs led to her selection as the District Director of Healthcare Education in 2017. Rochelle directs the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of assigned district-wide programs, initiatives, and related functions.
Liahla Ferra currently serves as the Senior Project Manager for Maricopa Community College District Healthcare Education Department. Liahla is a results-oriented professional with a proven track record of success in grant project management, leading large-scale projects, and establishing and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships. Her expertise also includes a comprehensive understanding of project management, contract development, stakeholder engagement, and adherence to regulatory requirements. She has a strong foundation in student support services, academic planning, staff management, and building strategic alliances with community organizations, industrial entities, and educational establishments.
