The American Library Association is seeking candidates for an Endowment Trustee. Under the direction of the ALA Executive Board, the individual will help manage the ALA’s Endowment Fund and other long-term investments. Interested candidates should be current members of ALA or else plan on joining the organization soon, and they should have a general understanding of the organization’s mission and programs. Candidates should also possess at least a basic knowledge of the financial markets, particularly investment opportunities appropriate for the ALA endowment, and have experience managing investment funds in a business environment. Sound judgment and analytical skills for creating strategies and making decisions are a plus.
The ALA’s Executive Board will choose the Trustee at this year’s ALA Annual Conference. The person will serve a three-year term, beginning after the conference and concluding after the 2019 conference. The individual will be one of five Endowment Trustees, who serve staggered three-year terms.
