LOEX 2021: Call for Breakout Session Proposals – “Information Literacy in a Time of Transformation”
49th Annual LOEX Conference
May 11-14, 2021
Online
In years past, LOEX has typically been able to bring librarians and information professionals together for a conference in cities around the country to celebrate, collaborate, and revitalize their instruction. Facing the unique social and technological challenges of the present time, we’re approaching our instruction, our libraries, and our world differently. And that asks for an approach to LOEX 2021 that encompasses this transformation.
While the original intent was to host LOEX 2021 in the California Bay Area, due to COVID-19-related health, travel, and budget restrictions, we have moved to an entirely online format. In 2020, we made this switch from in-person to online in less than two months and we were able hold a successful, reduced in scope, conference. This year, we hope to build upon last year’s success and offer an even bigger & better conference that is more directly focused on the issues that librarians are encountering in their work and lives today.
The core of the conference will be as it always has been — the breakout sessions from academic librarians. You are invited to submit a proposal to LOEX 2021 to showcase your innovations in library instruction. We are excited to see how librarians from all over are exploring, adapting, & re-focusing their information literacy environment and dealing with the obstacles & opportunities that they are facing along the way.
This year’s LOEX tracks are the following.
- Pedagogy: Transforming the Classroom
- Assessment: Measuring Progress
- Leadership: Elevating the Field
- The Anti-Racist Instructor: Cultivating Inclusion and Belonging
- The Value in Failure: From Missteps to Forward Movement
- Theory in Practice: Reversing the Paradigm
- Collaboration: Building Unity in Diversity
Proposals for 60-minute long presentations can be submitted only through the online submission form and must be received by Friday, December 4, 2020. The primary contact for the proposal will receive a message indicating receipt of the proposal when it is submitted and will be notified if the proposal has been accepted for presentation by Monday, January 18, 2021.
