Dear Participant,
Simone Williams, Assistant Professor and Diversity and Engagement Librarian at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, is inviting you to participate in a research study. The goal of this research study is to collect data to determine how concepts of critical race theory are applied in academic libraries especially as it relates to BIPOC employees (particularly Black employees). In this study we hope to learn about BIPOC academic librarians’ and staff experiences of how they have negatively been impacted by interest convergence and differential racialization.
Your participation in this study will involve completing a survey. Your expected time commitment is 10-15 minutes. The results of this study may be published in research journals or presented at professional conferences. However, the risks to you as a participant are minimal as your name will not be attached to your responses.
If you have any questions about this research study, please contact Simone Williams at siwilli@siue.edu. If you have questions about your rights as a research participant, you can call the SIUE Institutional Review Board at 618-650-3010 or email at irbtraining@siue.edu.Thank you,
