The spring version of our HEDS Research Practices Survey is currently open for registration. The survey asks college students about their research assignments, their experiences finding and using sources, and how much they enjoy research. The survey also includes a skills component that tests their abilities in finding, evaluating, and citing sources.
You can use the spring Research Practices Survey to see where your first-year students are after their first year of college or to assess if your seniors have mastered these skills upon graduation. The survey is administered at the end of your spring term.
You can find full details of the survey and view the instrument here.
The base cost for this survey is $2,000 for institutions not in HEDS or $500 for HEDS member institutions. You can determine if your institution is a HEDS member by visiting our current members’ page to see a full list of all our member institutions. If your institution is not a member, please know all institutions are welcome to join HEDS, but membership is not required to administer one of our surveys.
Your base cost includes the following.
- up to 10 supplemental questions
- a ready-to-share summary report comparing your students results with students from all other participating institutions
- a real-time report so you may view the results as they come in, and
- Excel and SPSS data files with your participants’ responses
