Dear all,
I am sorry for any cross-posting. My name is Xiaojie Duan, a catalog librarian and assistant professor of the Technical Services Department, University of Southern Mississippi (USM) Libraries. I am conducting a research project using online questionnaire to gain a better understanding of how international Chinese students use library virtual reference services (VRS) in the United States academic libraries, and what are librarians’ understanding of VRS as well as their international users.
The online questionnaire is embedded in USM Qualtrics. The questionnaire consists of twenty-seven questions in total, participants only need to complete up to fifteen questions or less to seven questions, depends on the choices of the answers. Participants will take five to ten minutes to answer the entire questionnaire.
The questionnaire is designed to: 1) Let participants to share their experiences of using VRS; 2) Let participants to share their interactions with librarians/students; 3) Let participants to share their points of view related to library website and library online catalog; And 4) Let participants to share their satisfaction and expectations of current and future VRS. The participation is completely voluntary and the answers will be kept anonymous. All data will be used only for research purposes.
All Chinese students who come from mainland China (including those from Hong Kong and Macau) and Taiwan and are pursuing undergraduate or graduate degree in a US university, are qualified to this research project. All librarians, both full-time and part-time, who are currently employed in a US academic library, are qualified to this research project as well.
