Purpose of Study:
The COVID-19 pandemic required archivists and special collections staff from various institutions to change the ways they worked to accommodate conditions to protect patrons and themselves. The goal of this study is to gauge insight into how archivists adjusted to the pandemic and the effect these adjustments had on their work when returning to their sites.
Procedure of Study:
Participants will be asked to take a survey on conditions and accommodations adopted when returning to work in the archives. The survey should take roughly 10-20 minutes to complete. Participation is optional and there is no penalty for not completing the survey.
Participants:
Participants in this study include directors and heads of archives. Institutions include, but are not limited to academic libraries, public libraries, special libraries, and government archives. Participants should be limited to one director/head per institution.
Privacy and Confidentiality:
No identifying information will be used. All survey responses will be de-identified so no participant or institution can be personally identified. Only the principal investigator will have access to the dataset; the dataset’s existence on the Qualtrics server will be removed one year after the data collection phase.
