If you have an MLIS or equivalent degree from an ALA-accredited institution and are currently employed as a professional librarian in a Technical Services role in an academic library, we invite you to participate in this survey.
The purpose of the study is to examine librarians’ perceptions on MLIS curriculum and how well it prepares librarians for a career in a Technical Services role in an academic library. For the purposes of this survey, the phrase “a Technical Services role” refers to a position in which a librarian specializes in acquiring, organizing, and/or preserving library materials in any format. Participants will be asked to complete an online questionnaire which should take 8-12 minutes to complete.
All survey responses are anonymous and no identifying information will be collected. Participation is completely voluntary, and participants may withdraw from the study at any time.
Survey responses will be collected until Sunday, October 30, at which time the questionnaire will be closed to more responses.
This research study has been approved by The University of Alabama’s Institutional Review Board. For questions regarding the research study, please contact the primary researcher, Catherine Smith, at clsmith35@ua.edu.
