Greetings from your Hoosier Colleagues,
Planning is progressing rapidly for the 2022 Annual Meeting of the Medical Library Association’s Midwest Chapter. This year’s event, themed “2022 in Bloom”, will take place in person from Saturday, October 22, to Monday, October 24, in Bloomington, Indiana. You will be hearing more frequently from our Promotion Committee now that we have the Conference website established. While going through our planning, one question which keeps popping up is how many attendees can we expect. Obviously, that expected number is important for budgeting, choosing venue spaces, setting registration rates, hotel blocks, etc.
Generally, you’d look at recent past conferences and gauge it would be around the same ballpark, but our past two Conferences have been virtual and our most recent physical Conferences were pre-pandemic. While things are opening up again to more in person, we certainly are mindful that we’re still in the midst of COVID and that could definitely affect people’s comfort levels, and certainly could have affected institutional budgets for professional development. The Conference Planning Committee wants to assure everyone that we take your safety seriously and currently plan to follow the same process from the in-person aspect of this year’s MLA Conference.
With all this in mind, the Conference Planning Committee requests that you take this quick survey, available here. Please complete the survey by Tuesday, May 31, whether you plan to attend or not or are undecided. Reasons given will help Midwest with future planning.
We look forward to seeing everyone in Bloomington. It’s been too long.
On behalf of the Midwest Conference 2022 Planning Committee,
Jason Lilly, #2022inBloom Co-Chair
