The 19th Annual Information Literacy Summit will take place on April 29 (Thursday) and April 30 (Friday), 2021. The event–presented by College of DuPage Library, DePaul University Library, and Moraine Valley Community College Library–will be free and virtual, featuring two very special keynote addresses, two days of breakout sessions, and a week of virtual posters. The theme will be “Challenging the status quo: Rethinking information literacy theories and practices with a special focus on responding to the concerns of 2020”.
The keynote speakers are Dr. Laura Saunders, Associate Professor at Simmons University School of Library and Information Science, and Fobazi Ettarh, Undergraduate Success Librarian, Rutgers Newark. More information on them is available here.

Call for Proposals
This year, the Summit will be a virtual two day conference with synchronous and asynchronous events. We are seeking presenters to lead engaging and interactive discussions as well as poster sessions that specifically address how library instruction and/or information literacy has been impacted by the issues of 2020, including race and equity; online teaching and learning; the election; COVID-19. This track is in addition to the breakout sessions accepted for last year’s Summit. We hope to foster conversations across all types of libraries, schools, and other organizations and encourage a diversity of perspectives in this proposal call.
Breakout Sessions
Breakout sessions will be 40 minutes long and should include audience interaction or discussion. Practical takeaways are encouraged. Submissions should include a 200-300 word description of your session, learning outcomes, a brief explanation of why people should attend your session and what they will take away, and abstract (around 100 words) for publication in the Summit programming.
Please fill out this Google form to propose a breakout session
Poster Sessions
All posters will be available asynchronously and digitally for one week on the Summit website.
Your poster session can contain images, video, include audio clips, or anything else you’d like to share. Please limit embedded media to less than five minutes in length and the media should stand alone with no presenter explanation required. Please consider accessibility options for your poster such as closed captioning, transcripts, image descriptions. Viewers will be able to post questions about your posters and you will be able to respond via the commenting feature.
Accepted posters will need to be submitted a few weeks in advance of the Summit, and further details will be shared upon acceptance.
Please fill out this Google form to propose a poster.
The deadline to submit proposals is Friday, January 22.
