The ARL (Association of Research Libraries) Leadership and Career Development Program (LCDP) is a yearlong fellowship that aims to prepare mid-career librarians from historically underrepresented racial and ethnic groups to take on leadership roles in their careers and in the profession at large. Since ARL launched the LCDP in 1997, a large percentage of alumni have assumed significantly expanded responsibilities within their institutions and/or within professional organizations.
The ARL LCDP contributes to addressing the need for research libraries and archives to develop a more diverse professional workforce that can contribute to institutions’ successes in serving the research, teaching, and learning of increasingly diverse scholarly and learning communities. Moreover, the program is building a broader community of career coaches and mentors, supervisors, directors, and other champions of the program with greater cultural proficiency and deeper understanding of the systemic barriers to creating authentically inclusive environments.
Applications for the 2022-2023 Leadership and Career Development Program are due by 10:59 PM CDT on Friday, December 10, 2021. For more information, and to apply, please go here.
