Are you in the Illinois area and have ideas to share? Consider sharing those ideas at the Health Sciences Librarians of Illinois annual meeting in Champaign, Illinois, on September 11-13, 2019. This year you have the option of presenting your ideas as a poster or lightning talk.
Lightning Talks:
The afternoon of Thursday, September 12, has been set aside for sharing experiences, best practices, or how lemonade was made out of lemons! Each presenter will be allotted 5-10 minutes, depending on the number of abstracts that are accepted. There will be ample time afterward for Q&A and lively discussion.
Posters:
Ideas can include but are not limited to, any area of librarianship such as instruction, leadership, program development, communication, collection development, outreach, and evaluation.
Posters from last year included such topics as collaboration, technology programs, data fluency, disabilities, bookplates, and even tattoos. If you have presented, or plan to present, a poster at another meeting this year (such as MLA or Midwest Chapter/MLA), please consider also submitting it for HSLI. Let our members who can’t travel have the opportunity to see the work you’ve been doing! The posters will be presented during Nancy’s Reception on Thursday evening, September 12, starting at 6:00 PM. Setup will be available later Thursday afternoon, as the poster session is that evening. Poster authors need to be present Thursday evening to discuss their posters with conference attendees. Posters can remain up until the break after breakfast on Friday morning.
Stipends available! Each poster presenter will receive a stipend to help offset printing costs or other meeting expenses. Stipends are limited to only one presenter per poster, and an individual presenter can receive a maximum of only one stipend, even if submitting multiple posters.
How to Submit:
To apply for lightning talks, fill out the HSLI 2019 Lightning Talk Proposal Form or submit an abstract of no more than 200 words to Charlotte Beyer at charlotte.beyer@rosalindfranklin.edu by Friday, August 2 (please note the new deadline).
