Earlier this year, you may have heard about the Digital Liberal Arts Exchange (DLAx), a Mellon-funded project designed to explore options for developing a sustainable and scalable approach to sharing digital scholarship expertise (and promoting collaboration on digital scholarship projects) across institutions. If not, you can find an introduction to the project in this article from Inside Higher Ed.
DLAx is being headed up by Mike Roy, Dean of the Library at Middlebury College, and he will be in Chicago later this month to discuss DLAx with potential project partners in the area. We will be hosting an open discussion about DLAx with Mike at DePaul University on Wednesday, May 11, from 2:00 to 3:30 PM, in the Richardson Library Scholar’s Lab. We hope that interested library staff and classroom faculty with an interest and expertise in digital humanities and other areas of digital scholarship will be able to join us to talk with Mike about how to move this collaborative effort forward.
If you (or someone from your library or your campus) would like to join us for the DLAx meeting on May 11, please RSVP to Celia DeBoer (mailto:cdeboer@depaul.edu) by Friday, May 6, so that we may ensure space availability. Also, please review the meeting materials (including a short survey of participant interests) that Mike has made available here.
This meeting is meant to be open both the librarians and to faculty working in the digital humanities area, so please feel free to share it with appropriate folks. Directions to the Richardson Library are available here. I have also copied the directors of nearby LIS programs into this message, in case there is interest among the LIS community. If you have any questions, please e-mail me, at swalte11@depaul.edu.
