Even though the 2020 HSLI Annual Conference will not take place in person, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Conference Planning Committee is still offering several online events for members to improve their knowledge of health sciences archives and receive the latest updates from the HSLI Board. Read below for more details.
On Thursday, November 12, from 12:00 to 2:00 PM, attend the virtual CE session “Health Sciences Archives 101”. The presenter is Lisa A. Mix, who has worked in archives at several academic medical centers, including Johns Hopkins Medicine in Baltimore, the University of California San Francisco, and New York-Presbyterian/ Weill Cornell Medicine in New York. Attendees will learn about basic archives functions, including acquisitions and preservation. Other topics that the CE session will cover include privacy regulations, funding sources, and outreach, along with best practices and other strategies for adapting to the COVID-19 era.
A complete description of the session, along with a biography of the speaker, is available here. To register, please go here. There is no charge to attend, and non-members are welcome to participate, although they are encouraged to consider joining HSLI.
Then, on Friday, November 13, attend the virtual HSLI Business Meeting, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. This event is open to all current HSLI members. (Registration is forthcoming; please watch the listserv and the website for details.) Attendees will receive updates from the HSLI officers and the chairs of the various committees on current HSLI activities and any plans for future initiatives. At the end of the meeting, the new officers will officially begin their terms.
