With the 2016 U.S. presidential election cycle behind us, we can now look at near-future implications for healthcare legislation. President Elect Donald Trump has vowed to repeal the Affordable Care Act, and has proposed a replacement model that includes Health Savings Accounts (HSAs). According to CQ Roll Call, Georgia Rep. Tom Price is the apparent front-runner for appointment to secretary of Health and Human Services for the Trump Administration. Ben Carson has voiced disinterest in the position, as have Florida Governor Rick Scott and Newt Gingrich, all of whom had been previously eyed for the role.

On November 9th, House Bill 6623 was filed with the Illinois General Assembly. This bill represents a proposed agreement between the state and the University of Illinois in which the university agrees to meet certain standards in exchange for stable funding.
