All:
ILA included the following legislative update in its most recent newsletter. Note that most of the bills mentioned concern funding issues (specifically, either property taxes or the minimum wage). These types of bills require particularly strong action. If you plan to participate in one of the legislative meet-ups, or if you are scheduling your own meeting with your Illinois representative or senator, please include at least some of these bills in the discussion. This is especially true if the person or people with whom you are meeting are sponsoring the legislation.
Thank you.

- Oppose House Bill (HB) 3732, amends the Minimum Wage HB3732.
ILA will work with Chicago Association of Law Libraries (CALL) on a bill that would create the Uniform Electronic Legal Material Act. The bill would apply to all legal material designated as official under the act and published after its effective date including court reports, statutes, session laws, rules, and agency decisions. The American Association of Law Libraries supports enactment of the Uniform Electronic Legal Material Act in every state and the District of Columbia.
ILA will continue to monitor and inform the Illinois library community of any developments in the Illinois General Assembly impacting libraries and our key concerns. Most importantly, we will call upon you to take action at the appropriate time. Thank you for interest and support!
