DePauw University has an opening for a one- or two-semester graduate internship. The Liberal Arts Librarianship Graduate Intern will provide current library school students with hands-on experience in several areas of academic librarianship. Working closely with our professional librarians, the person in this role will provide research support to undergraduates, as well as explore other areas of service such as outreach, digital scholarship, metadata creation and information literacy. In consultation with the librarians, the successful candidate can identify their own key areas of interest to customize their experience in a liberal arts college library.
Primary job requirements include the following.
- provide research support to the DePauw community via a variety of avenues. For example, reference desk, individual consultation, etc.
- develop and manage online subject and class guides via the LibGuides product. Keep statistics on the number and nature of research interactions
- identify particular areas of interest within the library for additional focused experiences. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university and enrolled in a master’s/doctoral in library science or a related field program. Comfort and familiarity with desktop computing, web-based information and library system-related environments. The internship offers 20-25 hours per week with a generous hourly wage plus
$3000.00 per semester towards tuition.
