Are you interested in sparking discussion among your colleagues at the ALA 2016 Annual Conference? Do you have an idea about a library service or program that others might find useful? Do you just want to share your thoughts on the future of the profession? Consider submitting a proposal for a “Conversation Starter”or “Ignite Session” at this June’s ALA Annual Conference. Conversation Starters last 45 minutes and may take the form of a lecture, panel, or discussion. They will be held all day from Saturday, June 25, to Monday, June 27. Ignite Sessions last five minutes and include 20 slides that advance each 15 seconds. They will take place from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM on June 25-27. Topics covered by last year’s presentations included community engagement, outreach services, and technology and gaming.
The deadline for submitting a proposal is Tuesday, March 15. Proposals are selected by a vote of the public, ALA staff, and an advisory group consisting of ALA members. The winners will be notified in April. To find out more, including how to submit proposals, go here.
