Molly Horio, who served as HSLI President from 2007 to 2008 and recently retired from OSF HealthCare Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, is the 2024 recipient of the HSLI President’s Award. The President’s Award recognizes an HSLI member who has made a significant and lasting contribution to the organization. The current HSLI President chooses the recipient. Please see below for the statement of nomination.
Molly Horio is a longtime HSLI member who has been active in the organization through a variety of roles, including serving as President from 2007 to 2008 and as a member of the Conference Planning Committee. In recent years, she has chaired several committees, including the Nominating and Elections Committee and the Bylaws Committee. Molly’s work leading the Nominating and Elections Committee, in particular, reflects her dedication to HSLI. Recruiting people to run in the HSLI officer elections can prove challenging and time-consuming and often requires contacting many members before finding someone willing to run. Molly not only found at least one candidate for each officer position virtually every election cycle, but also often recruited multiple people to run for the same office. In handing off leadership of first the Nominating and Elections Committee, and then the Bylaws Committee, Molly took the time to answer questions the new Chair might have, and her successors in both positions have spoken highly of the guidance they received, with one commenting, “Molly absolutely answered any and all of my questions. But I would also like to add that she went above and beyond to suggest tips and offer advice to ensure a successful and smooth transition.”

Congratulations, and thank you very much for everything you have done for HSLI over the years!
