The National University of Health Sciences recently received a $4,300 grant from the National Network of Libraries of Medicine. The grant was one of five that the NN/LM awarded to institutions within the Greater Midwest Region. The award will fund technology upgrades at the school’s Learning Resource Center, specifically a new “technology bar” that includes an iPad station. The station will feature four iPad Air 2’s (in addition to one at the circulation desk). The iPads will have apps recommended by students, such as Notability, Khan Academy, and Essential Anatomy. The long-term goal of these improvements is to create an independent-study area within the LRC that allows students to become comfortable with the technology at their own speed. With the use of iPads in the hospital setting expanding, it is critical that future medical professionals be familiar with iPads and their role in improving patient health.
