The new office for the National Network of Libraries of Medicine – Greater Midwest Region, which recently moved from UIC to the University of Iowa’s Hardin Library of the Health Sciences, will host its first webinar on Thursday, May 26, from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Central Time. The new staff at the Greater Midwest Region will be introduced, including Director Linda Walton, Associate Director Elizabeth Kiscaden, and Technology and Communications Librarian Darlene Kaskie. Participants will also learn about the office’s goals for the next five years. These include increasing member participation, particularly through professional development opportunities; improving the health information resources available to the public, especially members of underserved communities; and revising the Network National Emergency Preparedness Response Plan. (To see a full list of the goals, go here.) The goals reflect the NN/LM – GMR’s broader mission of contributing to medical progress and enhancing public health by providing education and funding to community health centers, hospitals, medical schools, and libraries of all types throughout its 10-state region. At the end of the presentation, participants will have an opportunity to ask questions.
