Colleagues – we are currently recruiting for a Digital Scholarship Librarian to join the DePaul University Library. The successful candidate will join a library that has played a leading role on campus in the development of DePaul’s new Digital Humanities program and the use of library publishing services to advance open access in undergraduate research and faculty-led initiatives. With the establishment of the Scholar’s Lab in 2013 and coordination of digital project services in 2015, the DePaul University Library serves as a catalyst for digital scholarship efforts across the curriculum.
Digital scholarship–digital humanities, GIS, e-science, and “big data”–is an area of strategic interest and potential growth at DePaul, and this will be an extraordinary opportunity for a librarian with expertise and initiative to make a mark on the service program of our library, and to work with campus and community partners to show how the library contributes to the strategic goals of the institution. Existing partnerships in teaching, digital project development, and collaborative technology and space planning, will allow the Digital Scholarship Librarian to join an active network of librarians, faculty, and IT specialists on campus, as well as to take advantage of the broader potential found in local initiatives such as the Chicago Colloquium on Digital Humanities and Computer Science.
If you have a passion for interdisciplinary digital scholarship and innovative pedagogy and research methodologies, as well as for exploring the intersections of information literacy and fluency in the information technologies needed to support scholarly work with images, text, and data, and if you are interested in joining a vibrant and collaborative library community in the City of Chicago, I hope you will visit DePaul HR to learn more about the position and to submit an application here.
