Lovejoy Library at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville is seeking a Health Sciences Librarian. This is a full-time, 12-month faculty appointment that is tenure-track. The position’s primary responsibility will be serving as a liaison to the University’s Schools of Dental Medicine, Pharmacy, and Nursing, including teaching information-literacy sessions focusing on evidence-based practice. The individual will provide additional support online, such as LibGuides and teaching modules, through collaborating with the University’s Department of Technical Services. The successful candidate will also assist in collection development that helps those schools reach their curricular and research goals and will manage the materials budget in that area. Outside of the health sciences, the individual will work with the Lovejoy Library staff on such projects as grant-writing.
Minimum qualifications include an M.L.S. from an ALA-accredited school and work experience in an academic, research, or special library. Candidates should also be familiar with online library-resources and have a willingness to work collaboratively and be adaptive to change. Preferred qualifications include a background in the health sciences and familiarity with instructional methods and emerging technologies. Knowledge of current issues in the health sciences, including the latest trends in scholarly communication and scientific research, is a plus.
