RAILS is a co-sponsor of the “Better Together: Libraries in the New Economy,” preconference at the “Library State of Mind<http://railslibraries.us1.list-manage.com/track/click?u=2c51285b8d63e23716bce030f&id=89994d3588&e=b2cda01cb5>” conference in Peoria (October 21-24). All staff working in all types of libraries (academic, public, school, and special) are welcome to join this celebration of resource sharing and the 50th anniversary of Illinois library systems on Wednesday, October 21, from 10:30 a.m. – 5:45 p.m. The cost is $20 (separate from conference registration cost) and includes lunch and a special reception from 6 – 8 p.m.

The keynote speaker is Miguel Figueroa, Director of the American Library Association’s Center for the Future of Libraries. Bob Wedgeworth<http://railslibraries.us1.list-manage.com/track/click?u=2c51285b8d63e23716bce030f&id=d709f3c4d3&e=b2cda01cb5> will talk about the history of library systems, and Andrew Medlar, from the Chicago Public Library, will offer closing remarks. There will also be a panel discussion addressing what is happening in each type of library and small group sessions focusing on multitype collaboration.
