“RDA Book Training”–Monday, January 16 – Friday, March 10, 2023
Are you new to RDA guidelines or just need a refresher? Have you recently switched jobs and need to brush up on your cataloging skills? If so, then this is the class for you!
The Cataloging Maintenance Center (CMC) is providing “RDA Book Training” for library staff in any Illinois library. This is an eight-week course using Moodle software and covers the changes from AACR to RDA guidelines. FRBR, WEMI, identifying hybrid, AACR and RDA records, and series will be covered. Participants will take quizzes and copy catalog books. It is assumed that participants have basic cataloging knowledge and experience.
This is an asynchronous course, so you will not need to log in at a specific time, but you are expected to complete assignments and quizzes by the end of each week.

“RDA Video and Audio Recordings Training”–Monday, May 8 – Friday, June 23, 2023
The Cataloging Maintenance Center (CMC) is providing “RDA Video and Audio Recordings Training” for library staff in any Illinois library. This is a seven-week course using Moodle software. This course covers the changes from AACR to RDA guidelines. MARC record elements, including fixed field elements, will be covered. Participants will copy catalog DVDs, music CDs, and streaming audiobooks, and find matching records in OCLC. It is assumed that participants have basic cataloging knowledge and experience.
This is an asynchronous course, so you will not need to log in at a specific time, but you are expected to complete assignments and quizzes by the end of each week.
