Health misinformation is a widespread problem, with false or misleading information about both long standing health concerns like cancer and emergent situations like the COVID-19 pandemic spreading at a rapid pace. Sometimes questionable health information is obvious, but it can also be difficult to recognize and can potentially reach millions of people. Through presentations from expert guest speakers, the NNLM Health Misinformation Webinar Series will enable librarians, public health professionals, health educators, and health care providers to explore various aspects of health misinformation, disinformation, and mal-information, and learn practical and evidence-based solutions for how to identify it and help curb its spread.
The first webinar in this series will feature Bethany McGowan presenting on “Service-Learning Projects and Misinformation for Diverse Audiences”. It will take place Tuesday, March 7, from 12:00 to 1:00 PM CDT. For more information, and to register, please go here. Registering requires having an NNLM account. Create one here.
