Registration is still open for this year’s Library Information and Technology Association Forum, which will be held in Minneapolis, from Thursday, November 12, to Sunday, November 15. The deadline to register is Sunday, November 8. (Early-bird registration has already passed.) The cost is $390 for LITA and LLAMA members, $475 for ALA members who do not belong to LITA or LLAMA, and $614 for individuals who do not belong to ALA. There is also a pre-conference session, the cost of which is $192 for LITA and LLAMA members and $296 for everyone else.
The LITA Forum, which is sponsored in conjunction with the Library Leadership and Management Association, is intended for any library staff member who has an interest in technology, regardless of that person’s library type, job responsibilities, or level of technological expertise. The topics that this year’s sessions will cover include integration and collaboration, analytics and assessment, security and privacy, cloud computing, and gaming, among others. The keynote speakers will be Mx A. Matienzo, Director of Technology for the Digital Public Library of America and an expert in integrating library systems at the international level; Carson Block, of Carson Block Consulting, Inc., who has worked to foster communication and collaboration between librarians and “hard-core” technologists; and Lisa Welchman, President of Digital Governance Solutions at ActiveStandards, who has advised organizations on how to manage their multi-faceted digital operations.
