The IACRL Conference & Continuing Education Committee is pleased to announce its next Spark event! Join us for Spark: Open Pathways – Exploring the Intersections of Diversity Equity and Inclusion and Open Educational Resources. It will take place on Thursday, December 9, from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM CDT. The event will be held via Zoom. Library workers from all libraries in Illinois are welcome to attend! Call for Proposals
The Committee is currently seeking proposals in the theme of diversity, equity, and inclusion in OER and Open Pedagogy. Topics to consider include, but are not limited to, the following.
- Culturally responsive instruction and “Open”
- Elements of traditional textbook publishing or pedagogy that exclude
- How “open” can clear barriers to DEI
- OER is not fundamentally diverse or inclusive
- OER and Belonging
Proposals on other topics will also be considered as space allows.
Presenters will give 10-minute lightning talks on their topics. After a set of lightning talks, attendees will go into breakout rooms to network and discuss the lightning round topics, and will have the opportunity to ask questions of the presenter in their breakout room.
Participants will also be able to discuss their own experiences and ideas with one another.
If you are interested in presenting, please submit a proposal here by Friday, October 29. The schedule will be finalized no later than November 12, 2021.
