The IACRL People’s Choice Award in Scholarly Publishing was established in 2020. This award gives academic and research librarians throughout Illinois the opportunity to read and evaluate scholarly works by their peers and then vote on a favorite. It also presents Illinois research and academic librarians with the opportunity to share their findings outside of a conference or other formal setting. Voting for this year’s award took place in August, and IACRL announced the results last month.
The 2020 winners will discuss their work in this webinar. JJ Pionke, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, received the highest number of votes for his article, “Library Employee Views of Disability and Accessibility”, in Journal of Library Administration. The second-place winner is Elena Carrillo, University of Illinois at Chicago’s Daley Library, whose article with Dr. Jung Mi Scoulas, ʺWelcome to the Library: Data-Driven Student Worker Empowerment,ʺ appears in Evidence Based Library & Information Practice. Tina Griffin, also of the University of Illinois at Chicago (Library of the Health Sciences-Chicago), finished third, and her article with Abigail Goben is “In Aggregate: Trends, Needs, and Opportunities from Research Data Management Surveys”, from College & Research Libraries.
