This is a reminder that registration is open for the remaining Online with the CMC webinars for FY 2021. Each webinar is from 10:00 to 11:00 AM CDT. Notice that we moved the April session to the second Thursday, rather than the third, so that it would not conflict with the Reaching Forward South conference. If anyone is unable to attend a live session, register anyway, so that you can receive the link to the recording.
Please see below for specific details and the registration links.
- March 18, 2021: “Braille: Decoding the Dots”
- How to catalog braille books, specific MARC fields that should be included in a bibliographic record, and how to code the fixed-field elements will be covered. Register here.
- April 8, 2021: “Mixing It Up: Mixed Materials”
- While kits contain multiple items issued as one unit intended for instruction, collections of mixed materials contain two or more forms that are most often related by being about one subject or accumulated by one body or person. MARC fields and RDA guidelines for mixed materials will be discussed. Register here.
- May 20, 2021: “Cheerios, Rice Krispies, or The Directory of Overseas Summer Jobs?”
- Discusses what a serial is, the differences in cataloging a single item vs. cataloging serials and demonstrates the fixed-field differences and variable fields that apply to serial records. Register here.
If anyone has any specific topics they would like covered next fiscal year (July 2021-June 2022), then please e-mail suggestions to cmc@illinoisheartland.org.
