Are you an instruction librarian who is looking to expand or improve the information-literacy services your library provides? Consider applying for the ACRL Information Literacy Immersion Program’s Teacher or Program tracks. Working with colleagues in a collaborative environment, participants will have the opportunity not just to learn the latest instructional theories and methods, but to apply those ideas to their own teaching strategies. In particular, participants will learn how best to integrate technology into the instructional setting. The Teacher track explains how to accommodate different learning styles in developing instructional activities, and, also, the best techniques for evaluating the effectiveness of instructional programs. In addition, participants will develop and evaluate their own instructional philosophy, The Program track focuses on building relationships with other departments on campus, in order to ensure that the library’s instructional program helps the academic institution as a whole meet its goals. Additionally, participants will learn how the library can take on more of a leadership role on campus and have a say in the broader institution’s programs and direction.
Both tracks will be held from July 24 to 29 at Champlain College in Burlington, Vermont. The deadline to apply for either of the tracks is Friday, December 4. More information on the ACRL Information Literacy Immersion Program (there are six tracks, total, five of which are still open for registration) is available here.
