The American Library Association is currently seeking proposals for its 2016-17 Diversity Research Grant program, which is managed by the ALA’s Office for Diversity, Literacy and Outreach Services. The deadline to apply is Tuesday, March 1. All applicants must be current members of ALA. The organization will give up to three awards, each of which will consist of a $2,500 grant for original research and will cover one year (July 1, 2016 to June 30, 2017). Proposals should focus on any area related to diversity in the library and information science profession, particularly increasing access to library resources and conducting outreach to underserved populations that has not received sufficient attention in the past. Applicants should also describe the projected results of their research and explain how much time and money would be needed to complete the project. The ALA will announce the winners prior to the 2016 Annual Conference. Grant recipients will be required to write a paper on their research findings and present it within a year of completing the grant.
