Based on the results of the HSLI planning survey, members have expressed a strong interest in having more “ad hoc” online programming, similar to the presentation on the NIH Data Tool Kit last fall. The topic should cover something of current professional interest to librarians in the health sciences and medicine. The programming could last anywhere between a half-hour and an hour, and it could include lecture, interactive components such as time for questions, or a combination. A solo presenter could give the talk, or the presentation could take the form of a panel discussion. The presenters would not necessarily need to be directly affiliated with HSLI, as long as they would be willing to share their knowledge and expertise free of charge.
If you have ideas for a topic or presenter, or if you would be interested in giving an ad hoc presentation yourself, please e-mail Eric Edwards, HSLI President, at eedwards@ilsos.gov. We would like to offer this type of programming at least several times a year, if possible. For examples of current topics of interests in health sciences and medical librarianship, please check the NNLM Topics Guides.
