These grants seek to advance the ILA Strategic Plan‘s twin goals of “A Culture of Diversity and Inclusion in the Profession” and “…in the Association”. Eligible recipients include librarians and library staff who have faced structural barriers to national participation, including those eligible for ALA’s Spectrum Scholarships (those who identify as American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian, Black/African American, Hispanic/Latino, Middle Eastern/North African, and/or Native Hawaiian/Other Pacific Islander); people with disabilities; and people who identify as LGBTQUIA+; and rural librarians or library staff.
No more than one stipend per recipient and awards will be made up-front rather than on a reimbursement basis. The deadline for second-round applications for 2022 conferences is Friday, April 15; award/s will be announced by Sunday, May 1.
