JLSC welcomes applications for membership on its Editorial Board through Wednesday, August 31.
About the Editorial Board
In addition to helping to shape journal policy and practices, Editorial Board members assist the editors in identifying and recruiting peer reviewers, performing peer review of submissions, soliciting manuscripts, and increasing general awareness and reach of the journal. Board member terms are for three years, but consecutive terms are allowed. The Board meets by conference call at least two times per year, and may collaborate online between meetings, either in full or in sub-groups.
What We are Looking for
The following criteria will be given careful consideration as we review applications.
- Expertise: JLSC’s Board serves as a source of expertise on the wide range of topics that fall under the umbrella of librarianship and scholarly communication, so we are looking for Board members with demonstrated knowledge and professional achievement in one or more areas related to the journal’s scope.
- Energy: The Board is heavily engaged in setting journal policy, reviewing manuscripts, and recruiting new content. We are looking for board members who are interested in taking an active role in the publication of the journal and can devote some time and attention to it.
- Diversity: The Board needs to be as diverse as the community JLSC serves-in expertise and experience, in geography, and in perspective-and we will show a preference for individuals who can provide a voice for un- or underrepresented groups.
- Professional Engagement: Our Board members are engaged in the profession through research and publishing; attending conferences; serving with regional, national, and international organizations; and working on collaborative projects. Through these and other types of engagement, Board members learn about practice in the field, identify trends, and recruit cutting-edge content for JLSC. We are looking for new members who are actively engaged in professional communities related to librarianship and scholarly communication.

Send your CV and a brief statement addressing the criteria for selection and your interest in serving on the Editorial Board to Stephanie Davis-Kahl (sdaviska@iwu.edu) by Wednesday, August 31. Applications will be reviewed by the current Editorial Board and the Editors-in-Chief.
