RAILS and IACRL co-sponsored two networking events last fall, one at Northwestern University’s Evanston campus and the other at Prairie State College. Due to the positive feedback from attendees at those events, we would like to hold several similar gatherings in the spring. We are looking for academic libraries in Illinois that would be willing to serve as host sites. Based on the format RAILS and IACRL used in the fall (we may make some adjustments, however, based on the feedback we received), the events would likely last for two-to-three hours. In addition to networking, attendees would have the opportunity to learn more about RAILS and IACRL activities and opportunities for involvement. There would also be a structured discussion on topics of interest to Illinois academic librarians and, depending on time, a chance to tour the host library. The events would be free of cost to librarians from both RAILS and non-RAILS libraries.
If your institution would be interested in serving as a host site, or if you have any questions on what the format or content of the event would require, please e-mail Dan Bostrom, RAILS Member Engagement Manager, at dan.bostrom@railslibraries.info.
