The ACRL Distance and Online Learning Section (DOLS) Conference Program Planning Committee and Discussion Group are soliciting speakers for their jointly-sponsored panel presentation, “Designing Accessible and Inclusive Online Tutorials”. This free program will be a 60-minute interactive panel presentation held virtually on Monday, June 6, at 1:00 PM CDT. The program description is as follows:
Abstract
As library services rapidly shifted modality during the COVID-19 pandemic, online videos and click-through tutorials became some of the primary modes of library instruction. Now that online learning is here to stay, how can we design online learning objects that are accessible and inclusive to all learners? In this panel cosponsored by the ACRL DOLS Conference Program Planning Committee and the ACRL DOLS Discussion Group, attendees will learn from experts in the field how to make a successful online tutorial that is accessible to a variety of learners. Attendees will walk away with an arsenal of tools, tips, and tricks for designing and creating accessible and inclusive online tutorials.
We are seeking speakers from a variety of academic libraries, especially from community college libraries and libraries serving a diverse student population. Speakers should be knowledgeable about and experienced with accessibility for online library instruction and able to present on one of the session’s proposed learning outcomes:
Learning Outcomes
- Participants will be able to define accessibility and inclusion for online learning
- Participants will be able to apply best practices in accessibility and inclusion for online tutorials for libraries
- Participants will be able to identify tools for creating and assessing accessible online tutorials
If you are interested in participating in this panel presentation as a speaker, please fill out our speaker interest form by Monday, May 2. Speakers will be selected and notified by May 9.
