The Research Committee of the ACRL Science and Technology Section (STS) will host its Research Forum long-form presentations and lightning talks to coincide with the 2025 American Library Association Annual Conference to highlight research and practitioner projects related to science and technology librarianship. The Committee is seeking proposals to present at the Annual STS Virtual Research Forum. The session will be held virtually on Tuesday June 17. Registration for ALA Annual and STS membership are not required in order to present.
The STS Research Forum provides an excellent opportunity to share original research that is in progress or nearly complete. Options to participate in the Forum include the following.
- Lightning Talks: a showcase for 7-minute presentations on research endeavors or practitioner projects.
- Full presentations (20 minutes + questions)
- Panels (a new option for participation in the Research Forum for individuals who wish to share similar research)
Submissions should clearly address the following information.
- brief background information about your project,
- the research question or problem that drove your project,
- the methods used,
- your findings and a brief discussion that includes the impact of your project,
- a brief description of any equity, diversity, or inclusion considerations in your work or ways in which your work upholds the ALA Code of Ethics and ALA Key Action Areas.
Submissions will be anonymously peer-reviewed and selected based on the quality of the submission and the demonstration of significant progress toward completing the research project by June, 2025. NOTE: Please do not include any identifying elements (name, institution, etc.) in your abstract or title.
The submission deadline is Friday, March 14. Please submit proposals here.
