The American Library Association (ALA) International Relations Round Table (IRRT) invites you to submit presentation proposals for their 2019 Pre-conference in Washington, DC on Friday, June 21, 2019, from 8:00am – 1:00pm.
Libraries today continue to be attuned to meeting the needs of their communities. In the 21st century, libraries are encouraged to be the center of community life, to be community builders and places where people get involved. This pre-conference will focus on innovation in meeting these community needs. It will include representatives of different types of libraries around the world who will share their innovative practices and how they can be adapted in other libraries.
Possible proposal topics include:
- Libraries as third spaces
- Civic engagement
- Libraries as educational places
- Libraries as business incubators
- Libraries as performance and creation places
- New realities (digital and social media)
Presentations that are interactive in nature are encouraged.
To submit a proposal, send an email to co-chairs Gloria Creed-Dikeogu (gloria.creeddikeogu@ottawa.edu<mailto:gloria.creeddikeogu@ottawa.edu>) and Barbara Marson (marsonb@ecu.edu<mailto:marsonb@ecu.edu>) by end-of-business on January 18, 2019.
