We are now accepting proposals for The Innovative Library Classroom 2023. It will take place at the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. A pre-conference workshop, poster session, and social will take place on Thursday, June 1, with the conference itself following on Friday, June 2.
Our theme for 2023 is “What informs your pedagogy?”. This could include exploring questions like: What beliefs drive your practice? What factors affect your teaching? How do you approach teaching in the library classroom? We also welcome proposals which discuss evidence-based pedagogies, such as trauma-informed, critical, reflective, collaborative, and others.
We hope this theme will help you brainstorm ideas, but we will welcome any proposals related to innovative practices related to teaching and learning in libraries. Our conference attendees especially appreciate stories of practical application.
Proposals are invited for four different session types:
- 2-hour pre-conference workshop (presented Thursday afternoon before the poster session)
- Posters (presented at the Thursday evening social)
- 50-minute presentations
- 7-minute lightning talks
Selection Process and Timeline
Proposals will be peer reviewed and then selected by the conference organizers to ensure that TILC offers sessions on a range of topics from a diverse set of institutions and presenters. Note that you may be invited to present in a format other than the one you proposed.
The submission deadline is Friday, December 16. Acceptances of notification will go out in late February.
We are planning for an in-person conference. We will follow the best safety practices as recommended by the CDC, Virginia Library Association, and William & Mary. We are prepared to cancel the conference if needed. (We do not have the budget or equipment to do a hybrid conference.)
We expect registration costs to be about $55.
