The Journal of Web Librarianship is looking for contributors interested in writing product reviews. While the Journal has long published book reviews, we are now also expanding into product reviews. These are reviews of software, websites, or other web-based tools that have a strong connection to library services. Aida Smith wrote our inaugural product review in issue 18.1, on Voyant Tools.
A few products that might fit well in this category are the following.
- text mining/analysis tools (e.g., Leximancer, ITHAKA’s Constellate)
- data wrangling tools (e.g., OpenRefine)
- data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau)
- network analysis tools (e.g., VOSViewer, Gephi)
- tools measuring research impact (e.g., SciVal, Dimensions, InCites Benchmarking & Analytics)
- repository products (e.g., Figshare)
- tools for conducting literature reviews (e.g., DistillerSR, Rayyan)
- AI tools.
If you are interested in proposing a review of a website or tool, please contact me directly, at mrobiso2@nd.edu. I am open to your suggestions of resources to review, even those that don’t fit into this list.
