The committee is seeking proposals for three possible session types: Lesson Plan Presentations, Tech It Out Demos, and Learning Objects Lightning Round.
Lesson Plan Presentations
15 minute presentation + 5 minute Q&A
Lesson plans related to the theme might include how you have re-imagined lesson plans since COVID disruptions have slowed down, your process to re-examine and find new approaches to a topic you teach, or instructional methods that are more sustainable in terms of staff time and effort.
Proposals should outline an instruction session activity that supports skills-based or conceptual learning and encourages active student participation (approx. 100 words). Please include a full lesson plan with your proposal.
All lesson plans must include the following elements: topic, learning objectives, materials, activity overview, assessment of student learning, and applicable frame(s) from the Framework for Information Literacy. Previous recordings of Lesson Plan Presentations can be viewed here.
Tech it Out Demos (Teaching Tool Demonstration)
15 minute presentation + 5 minute Q&A
Presenters are invited to deliver brief demos of technology used for library instruction or to put pedagogical theories into practice (either new tools or innovative uses of established ones). These demonstrations are geared towards fellow instructors who may adopt the tools discussed, but can include examples of how they would be implemented in a classroom setting.
Proposals should include the tool(s) being used, the instruction applications, and a brief (approx. 100 words) description of what will be shown in the demo. Previous recordings of Tech It Out Presentations can be viewed here.
Learning Objects Lightning Round (Digital Instruction Objects Showcase)
5 min presentation + Asynchronous material share + synchronous Q&A
Rather than traditional poster presentations, presenters are invited to share digital learning objects (such as LibGuides, tutorials, modules, websites, instructional videos, etc.) that apply instructional theories into practice or provide new approaches to self-guided learning. If you aren’t sure if your material applies, please don’t hesitate to reach out before proposing.
Proposals should include an accessible link to your material and a brief (approx. 100 words) description contextualizing its application for viewers. If your example is not open to the public, please plan to do an unnarrated 2-3 minute length screen recording prior to the event to be shared with showcase attendees. At the event, presenters will have 5 minutes to briefly share their object followed by a Q+A period for participants to gain more insight into the projects. Links to the objects will be included in the showcase website following the event.
Please feel free to review the previous Showcase agendas and presentations.
