Decolonizing Information Literacy: Lessons for Connecting and Collaborating with Indigenous Knowledge, Wednesday, October 25
This presentation/discussion will share lessons learned from a sabbatical taken by a white, Eurocentrically raised academic librarian on how we can learn from Indigenous Knowledge and reform our Information Literacy practice. The facilitator will share what they learned from Indigenous Knowledge with participants and discuss ways we can transform and decolonize the research process to enhance learning and inclusivity and actively work towards justice, equity, and providing access to marginalized voices.
Post-Coronial Academic Library Outreach: Reflective Practice in a Changing Landscape, Thursday, October 26
Educator Simone Eringfeld coined the term “post-coronial” to describe the landscape of higher education as a result of the global pandemic. In this session, two academic librarians will be reflecting on the ways their library outreach efforts have evolved as they’ve reconnected with campus community stakeholders through relationship building, program development within the new social and cultural norms, and by simply showing up and setting aside their previous expectations to meet people where they are in 2023. Whether outreach is your primary responsibility or you find yourself in an “accidental outreach” role, this will be a space to learn about and share experiences and ideas.
