The “Shake, Rattle, and Roll” Midwest Chapter MLA Conference in Cleveland, Ohio, provides a great opportunity to explore Cleveland. If you arrive on Friday or Saturday, consider purchasing tickets for Lolly the Trolley, while registering for the conference!
Did someone say, “Magic Carpet Ride?!” Not really, but close! Join your friends and colleagues for a one hour, fully narrated city sightseeing tour on Cleveland’s iconic Lolly the Trolley. Let Lolly show you how “Cleveland Rocks!” The tours are on Saturday, October 6th. There is a 10am-11am morning tour, repeated by a 2pm-3pm afternoon tour. Take a ½ day CE class and still have time to see Cleveland. No walking required once you have boarded the trolley. Sights include:
· The Flats & Cuyahoga River area
· Downtown & Public Square
· North Coast Harbor
· The Warehouse District
· Ohio City & the West Side Market
· Gateway Sports Complex with the “Q” & Progressive Field
· By special request, the World’s Largest Outdoor Chandelier at Playhouse Square
You will be picked up and returned to The Westin on the E. 6th Street side. See the Conference registration form for ticket purchase!
Perhaps you prefer to walk instead of taking a ride around the city? Join us for “Walk This Way” morning walks! Kick off your day right… Walk This Way… See historic landmarks and other popular sites around Cleveland. A different route each morning. Meet in The Westin lobby at 6am. Walking begins promptly at 6:05am, walking just under 2 miles for 45-50min at approximately 2.4mi/hr. Not an overly fast pace, but not a sightseeing stroll either.
- Sat Oct 6: E. 9th St. to Prospect
- Sun Oct 7: E. 9th St. to Huron
- Mon Oct 8: North Coast Harbor
Feel free to walk only as much of the route as you like!
Maps available as PDFs and as print copies at the conference Hospitality Table.
