Do you need to know the most up-to-date resources for providing information on mental health? Are you interested in learning the most-effective strategies for interacting with patrons who may have a mental condition? Be sure not to miss the free “Caring for Your Mind: Providing Mental Health Information at Your Library” online course. The class, which is self-paced and uses Moodle, runs from February 1 to February 29 and is worth three hours of continuing-education credit from the Medical Library Association. In addition to becoming familiar with the latest print and electronic resources and search strategies, participants will also learn about information sources outside of the library, including community organizations and health professionals. Participants will then learn how to apply this knowledge to the reference interview on mental-health topics and to interacting with patrons who may have a mental condition. The course will include topics on the broader mental-health picture, particularly the stigma associated with disorders and the future of treatment.
