The Director of the Medical Library is responsible for providing leadership, planning, and management of the School’s Medical Library and the Department of Information and Communication Sciences. The position reports directly to the Dean and Provost of the School of Medicine and works in a collaborative environment with other leaders to develop and execute strategic plans and decisions.
Minimum qualifications include a master’s degree in library science from an ALA-accredited program and ten years of professional experience with progressive responsibility in an administrative or supervisory capacity in an academic or health sciences library. The successful candidate must have an understanding of the resources necessary to support medical education, research, and patient care and possess excellent planning, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Membership in MLA Academy of Health information Professionals at the distinguished level and five years management experience is strongly preferred, as is familiarity with current and emerging digital technologies and the design and integration of technology into curricula.
