Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, Library and Information Services, invites applications from dynamic, proactive, and service-oriented candidates for the position of Metadata Librarian. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic, innovative, collegial, user-focused librarian who will provide leadership in metadata creation. As a member of the Library faculty, this position participates in library governance activities, provides expertise regarding innovations and trends relating to metadata, contributes to creative and scholarly research, and participates in campus-wide committees.
Reporting to the Director of Technical Services, the successful applicant works in collaboration with appropriate colleagues in the creation of digital collections and digital exhibits, including supplying metadata. Also performs original and complex adaptive cataloging of print and non-print materials according to national standards. Supervises maintenance of metadata for digital resources and related holdings input into OCLC and Voyager, develops comprehensive bibliographic descriptions, assigns subject headings and classification numbers according to Library of Congress practice.
