Community Projects
To connect with local Peoria organizations and showcase creativity, innovation, and energy for our attendees, the 2024 ILA Annual Conference will feature two community projects.
The first project supports the Peoria Humane Society, which partners with Peoria County and the City of Peoria to offer comprehensive animal welfare and animal control services throughout the county. Attendees are encouraged to bring joy to a shelter pet’s life by making a tug toy. Instructions and supplies will be available in the quiet room and other common areas. All toys will be donated to the Peoria Humane Society for distribution to area shelters. Monetary donations are always welcome here.
The second project supports Peoria Proud, an organization dedicated to promoting diversity and equity throughout the Greater Peoria Area. Attendees are invited to attend Drag Bingo on Wednesday night, October 9, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM, with Miss Flo. The event will feature drag queen bingo, drag performances, and information about Peoria Proud. A panel featuring local authors, performers, and community members will discuss the importance of diversity in literature, the nuances of Drag Queen Story Hour, and the needs specific to the LGBTQ+ community.
Attending this event costs $20, with a portion of the proceeds benefitting Peoria Proud. Add Drag Bingo in the Special Events registration section when registering for the Conference. Donations are accepted here.
